With reference to Shangri-la, people always think of the following words: Fairyland on Earth, a Virgin Land, a Fictional Place. . . Hold on a second, Shangri-la is a real place! Shangri-la is a fantastic wonderland in China's southwestern Yunnan Province famous for its natural wonders and primitive custom. It is a dream place that combine pristine natural beauty with mysterious cultural heritage. How to get to Shangri-la? You can get to Shangri-la from Lijiang City in Yunnan Province and Panzhihua City in southern Sichuan province by coach. The drive takes about 4 hours from Lijiang. You can reach Shangri-la by flights also, from Kunming, Chengdu and Lhasa. You can not access Shangri-la by train directly.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Heading to Shangri-La

Our English-speaking guide will meet you at your Lijiang hotel and transfer you for a wild tour in the air-conditioned car. Drive to marvel at the First Bend of Yangtze River dotted with the lush forest and cloud-shrouded mounts nearby. Feel your draw hit your chest at the awe-inspiring Tiger Leaping Gorge following the ancient Stone Drum Village. Then proceed to Shangri-La county, formerly known as Zhongdian, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02 : Day Tour of Shangri-La

Make a morning excursion to Bitahai Lake, about 25 km east from Shangri-La County. Here optional pony trip can be taken to go through a pretty forest and down to the lake. Your eyes will be feasted with a pagoda-like hill and the surrounding trees with their reflection on the tranquil lake. The next stop is clear Shudu Lake embraced by the dense forests. The lakeshore is a pasture for herds of cows and sheep. Tibetan farm touch can be experienced here. Continue the tour to Songzanlin Monastery which has a 300-year-old history and ranks as the most important in southwest China. Here you will get to know the culture characteristic of monastic architecture and the mural (Thangka) as well as the Buddhist scripture. Meanwhile, you can also get chance to chat and sip Tibetan butter tea with living Buddha in the monastery. Heavy Tibet touch can be found in the Square Street of 1,300-year old town with the Tibetan medicines, yak goods, the Tibetan dance in the square, the giant wheel prayer, etc. White stupas can be seen everywhere and Scripture Chamber hidden within the old town originally was constructed for commemorating the Red Army. And a commanding view of the town district is available on the nearby Guishan Park. Call it a day and return to your hotel with your guide and driver.

Day 03 : Back to Lijiang

Drive back to your Lijiang hotel.
